sore back but feels good

Okay so this weekend my food choices weren't the best. We ate at restaurants alot and even though I made good choices there it was loaded with sodium, etc. The bad choices came with the amount of chocolate I consumed. I just wanted all that easter stuff so I had it. But I got it out of my system... not literally...I mean the cravings are gone now.

I listened to The Gabriel Method last night and I woke up this morning feeling great. I was packing my lunch to take to work and thought I'll just put some of Becca's chocolate in my bag to snack on. And in the same breath or thought I just decided I didn't WANT it. I didn't need it and I didn't want it...that's huge. SO it's at home waiting for Becca to enjoy it. And it will stay there. I really feel the determination in my thoughts today and I love that. Usually when I feel this way it lasts for a good while...and I have to say I haven't truly felt this determined since I lost 50 lbs after having Becca 7.5 years ago. So here's to good things :)

As for my back hurting...it was Kevin's bday yesterday and he decided for his bday he wanted to go to the batting cages. We went to Pickering Playing fields and he did two rounds in the cage and I did 1. It was soooo much fun! I haven't hit a ball in years and it was amazing. I hit 23 out of 24 and not all of them were pretty but it gave me an urge to play more. I want to join a league. Not this year but next year. I'm afraid of the ball when it comes to catching and my throwing isn't the best so Kevin said he'll work on all of that with me oh and the sprinting of course. He's going to work on it with me this summer and it'll be fun to play as a family then. And when I feel comfortable with it then I will sign up for next summer :) I love it. I've never done an organized sport before...I always just played baseball with my family in the park...so this is awesome for me.

After the batting cages we went and played mini putt which was also fun (I won ;) )

This morning I woke up wondering why my side and back were so sore...and I realized it's because it's not muscles I usually use...I don't normally swing a bat around LOL but it feels good. A little tender but liveable. And I look forward to going again...and soon!!!

Doing okay

Well I'm still losing so that's great. It's slow but steady. I have a case of the scale not moving for a few days and then a little drop and repeat. But I'll still take it...it's not going up and that's good.
The exercise is still lacking but that's okay right now. I need to drop this weight and clean eating is key. So I've been drinking between 3-4 litres of water each day and trying to eat as clean as possible (still can't give up that chocolate).
Not much to say today other than it's beautiful outside and things seem to be going well :)

I also have to put this out there...I really do have an amazing support system. Not just my friends here and on WLW but in my house too. My daughter is excited we are "getting skinny" even if she's bored of healthy food LOL. but mostly my hubby! He might have problems telling me "no" when I want chocolate or junk but that's the only thing. He really is so supportive of me. He makes healthy meals for us, he listens, and he helps me along by doing all of this crazy stuff with me. I really don't tell him enough how much I appreciate him and everything he does for me. He'll read this I know but I also think it's important to tell him...so I will when I get home tonight. I think it's easy to take the good stuff for granted and we always tend to focus on the things we want to change or have issues with when really we should all just focus on what is good and makes us happy.

This journey is really more than just weight. It's finding who we are as an individual, a couple, and a family...they truly are 3 distinct different entities.

okay forgot the gabriel method last night

Yep I forgot to listen to it...I was reading again! oops. I've gotta get a better hold on reality sometimes I think. When I get sucked into a book that's it I want to read it all the time.

On a good note I drank 4 litres of water yesterday before 3pm when I got home I had diet pepsi as I was water'd out. Today I've had 3 and a bit litres. This morning I woke up and was down the 2 lbs I had put on over the weekend.

Today I felt so strong and then at lunch I went shopping for easter stuff for Becca and ummm well I ate a small carton of peanut butter whopper's and then brought in some eggs for me as well. But I felt sick after the whopper's and a couple of eggs and gave the bag away to a co-worker saying keep them away from me..eat them give them away I don't care just don't let me have them. I didn't even want them...sometimes this habit thing is so hard to break. But I'm not going to let it get me down...I just have to push through it and know that it just didn't taste that good anyway. I've always said I love chocolate but I don't know that I really taste it I eat it so fast. I don't think I can love something if I can't take my time and savour it. That's my biggest deal...I need to slow down and enjoy my food.

And of course eat to survive don't survive to eat. Love that mantra.

where did the time go

Wow!!! It's been almost an entire week since I blogged! We've been busy remodeling our powder room but that's no excuse to not keep on top of things like staying healthy. Eating has been okay usually when we do stuff like this we have pizza or burgers but this time Kevin has cooked healthy meals and we've done some easy things like grilled cheeses but that's about as bad as we've been. We had pizza on Friday night but that was because we were super busy and had friends over.

Today I started uping the water again. 2.5 litres so far and it's only half way through the day. I'm hoping that will help me drop the 2 lbs I gained over the weekend.
As for exercise I can't commit to anything right now but if I get time here and there I will definitely throw it in :)

Tonight is tiling the floor night so I'll be helper girl (a.k.a. Gopher). Fingers crossed it goes smoothly so we can get this project done on time :) Yes I set goals and I get mad when things go off course...I'm impatient...I'm a Leo :)

Speaking of goals...I need to focus on my healthy goals. Clean eating so I can get that next 10 lbs off...I would like to be below 190 by the end of April...no reason why I wouldn't be able to do that. I broke the 200's weeks ago and lost focus. Same thing happened years ago when I lost 50 lbs...took a while to get that last 1 lb off and when I did I hit 50 exactly and even though I wasn't at my goal weight I slacked and quit what I was doing...only trouble was I didn't get back on that horse and 7 years later all of it plus some was back. I don't want to do that this time. I've only lost a bit but I hit below that 200 which was a major goal for me and I got lazy. Time to refocus.

1. water...doing it
2. listen to The Gabriel Method at night (starting tonight)
3. clean eating (write before you bite)
4. fitness (I'll get to it...)

Day 2 - Kenpo with Kevin

58 minutes of Kenpo. I friggen love that workout. It was pretty hard this time but that was only because I just haven't been doing anything physical until yesterday. Amazing how fast our bodies get used to lethargy.

Tonight's workout was awesome. Mainly because I got to work out with Kevin. He's been pretty reluctant about trying P90X and we aren't doing the program per se...it's more select videos when we want. I thought he'd like Kenpo and I think I was right although there was quite a bit of laughing going on as we were running out of energy. I'm sure he'll blog about it.

So tomorrow is back to the treadmill.

Yesterday was day 1 again :)

Yep...I started working out again yesterday. I forgot to blog about it so I'll be posting twice today. It wasn't so much a workout as it was a warm up LOL. I had decided day 1 would be 20 minutes of walking on my treadmill...no more no less. And I'm glad I had decided that. By the end of 20 minutes of JUST walking my hip flexor was killing me in my right hip so starting slow is good. Glad I didn't wait until the last minute like last time to train. 10 weeks until our 5K so now's a good time to start training again. I have a plan and I'm hoping to stick to it.
Mon - walk/run intervals
Tues - KenpoX
Wed - walk/run intervals
Thurs - perfect pull ups/kettle bells/sparq training
Fri - walk/run intervals
Sat - YogaX
Sun - Tennis as a family and X Stretch
I figure this way it's fun and combines strenght training with cardio and I'm less likely to injure myself. Also after a couple weeks of this I can change it up as I see fit.
Kevin will be training with me and he's nervous about Kenpo and Yoga and X Stretch but only because he's never done it before I know he's going to love it once he tries it. They are the three best workouts in P90X as far as I'm concerned...at least the three most enjoyable for me.

Once we get going into things really well I will likely up my 5K training and maybe even do more P90X who knows. All I know is this is a start and a strong one I think. I'm actually really excited about Kenpo tonight...it's been a while.

Alot accomplished

Well last night Kevin got a coat of paint on Becca's window frame (she's at my parent's for March break) and then we hung a bunch of artwork we've been meaning to do for months now...it's just been lying around waiting to get hung up. I'm so glad we did the front room looks beautiful and the other rooms are just coming together so nicely...all we need to do is get some paint on the walls in the other rooms and we are good. I got the second coat of paint on her window this morning (it wasn't a workout but it does work your arms a bit :) and I had to get up early to do it before getting ready for work). Tonight we'll hang her drapes and her room will be done.

But that's not what this post is about although we did accomplish alot of house stuff last night and today. This blog is about where I'm at so far this year. I had posted some goals on weight loss wars a while ago and I wrote a journal entry about it and realized I hadn't put anything on here about it. It's important to have goals and to reach them and then set new goals so I thought I'd (cheat and copy and paste my journal entry) post my goals here.

1. get my office in order

2. be super organized so I don't feel out of control in other areas of my life

3. fall in love with fitness (already started with P90X)

4. sign up for something competitive not sure what yet but some sort of sport

5. look smoking hot at goal weight!!!

#1 is done and #2 is an ongoing one that so far I'm in control of. #3 is a work in progress but that 5K helped to kick start that. I'm actually looking forward to our family training tonight. #4 done and done...did a 5K and have 2 more lined up for this year (June and July) #5 well this one I still have about 65 lbs to lose before I can cross it off the list...but it will happen this year! So I think it's fair to say that I've done 3 of the 5 for sure and can revise my goals for the rest of the year. #2 and 3 are ongoing so they'll stay and #5 is the final goal so obviously it stays.

New goals:

1. be super organized so I don't feel out of control in other areas of my life (ONGOING)

2. fall in love with fitness (already started with P90X) (ONGOING)

3. break the 190's

4. Organize furnace room

5. look smoking hot at goal weight!!!

So I'm pretty happy with where things are at these days. And now that my life seems to be getting organized how I like it and I'm more in control of my house I feel like I can take on the world. Weight loss is just bound to happen because that's what I want and that's what I'm choosing to focus on these days. Now that things are in order I can keep them that way without feeling overwhelmed about it. Just daily chores to keep things in check and if I do a little each night then we have more time to do fun things like exercise when we want to :) I don't have to feel like I should be doing something around the house instead.

I'm so excited for the next 11 weeks...yep that's it ladies until the next 5K. I have big plans...I'd like to be 15-20 lbs lighter by then so I need to kick it into high gear now.

Becca is coming home tonight and we took tomorrow and Friday off to be with her so woohoo long weekend. Science centre tomorrow = lots of walking :) and then Friday is a movie and we will likely gets the bikes out and go for a ride...and of course there's our 5K training that will start tomorrow with Becca. I couldn't be more excited for this.

Okay huge novel today sorry guys.
